THE CENTRE POMPIDOU
Centre Pompidou is a complex building in the Beaubourg area of the 4th arrondissement of Paris, near Les Halles, rue Montorgueil and the Marais. A passer-by would mistakenly think that the building is a big factory, not realising that it is one of Paris's major culture and art centres which houses the Bibliothèque publique d'information, the Musée National d'Art Moderne which is the largest museum for modern art in Europe, and IRCAM, a centre for music and acoustic research. National Geographic described the reaction to the building design as "love at second sight. The Pritzker jury said the Pompidou "revolutionized museums, transforming what had once been elite monuments into popular places of social and cultural exchange, woven into the heart of the city." The centre is an inspiration for the mind and soul of any artist. To find more about the centre, visit its website.
